GET INVOLVED
The topic of mercy ministry tends to bring low-grade anxiety in churches today. But there are clear commands in Scripture to do works of mercy, that is, to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable and defenseless both in the church and out there in the world. We all want to care for the orphan and widow, but often we hesitate to take the first step. Who's adequate for these things? The motivation for mercy ministry is not guilt, but gratitude, specifically, gratitude for the mercy God gives to us. The reason we minister mercy to others is because God ministered mercy to us. Mercy ministry is simply our theology flowing through our hands and feet to meet the needs of the least among us.
“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
Foster Care
Opening your home in this way means you are supporting children in Tallahassee who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned. We believe the church should be at the forefront of caring for children from vulerable places. Consider attending classes, providing respite care for other foster families, or become a host home today.
Guardian Ad Litem
We desire to be a church that sends believers into our community to care for the most vulnerable among us. The Guardian Ad Litem program trains individuals to advocate through the court system on behalf of children who have been neglected and abused. These volunteers have the privilege of serving the Lord as they serve others.
PHI Center
The Pregnancy Help and Information Center is a Christ-centered pregnancy center that offers services to women who believe they might be pregnant, those who are pregnant, and those with young children. The PHI Center partners with local churches to train and equip individuals for the work of ministering to those who are hurting and broken in Tallahassee.
“if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.
And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong;
and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.”
